Easy Do-It-Yourself Decorating

Adding something new to your house is exciting, but you don’t always have the money to go out and buy new things. Instead, a new, easy DIY project might provide exactly the boost you’re looking for and cost you a lot less.

Not sure where to start? Try some of these ideas to see if they work for your space:

Turn Chairs Into a Bench

If you’ve got some wood glue, nails, and some paint, this is an easy project that will look like a professional woodworker made it for you.

Take a long plank and replace the seats of two or three old chairs with the plank. Once it’s together, paint the whole thing in order to provide consistent color—and that’s it!

Once it dries, it will be a perfect bench for your home, inside or out!

Make a Cabinet Look Built-In

Corner cabinets are great at fitting into your space, and you can do a lot with them. If you luck out and find one at a thrift store or yard sale, sand it down and paint it to match the room’s walls.

When you slide it into the corner with the same wall color, the cabinet will suddenly seem as though it’s part of the room.

Turn Your Stairwell Into a Gallery

Display your favorite photographs and paintings or prints on the blank walls on either side of your stairwell. It’s a great way to turn a boring wall into something beautiful.

Plus, this will keep your favorite artwork from cluttering up the floor or taking up space in an attic or garage—showing off your collection is a much better way to hold onto it!
